Who is Tony?
I’m a Brooklyn native with Guatemalan roots and a serious passion for design. With nearly a decade in architecture and a deep interest in product and footwear design, I thrive at the intersection of form, function, and storytelling.
My career began in architecture, where I honed my ability to solve complex design challenges, coordinate across disciplines, and bring concepts to life through thoughtful detailing and execution. During my time at CookFox Architects, I played a key role in high-profile projects, leading design efforts, managing BIM models, and ensuring seamless collaboration between teams.
While architecture gave me a strong foundation in design thinking, I’ve always been drawn to creating at a more tangible, personal scale. That led me to found Pioneer Design Lab, a workshop where I design and craft bespoke sneakers and accessories. Here, I’ve expanded my skill set to include patternmaking, digital fabrication, and hands-on prototyping, all while building systems that streamline the creative process.
Over time, I’ve become increasingly interested in how emerging technologies and sustainable practices can shape the future of design. While I am still in the early stages of learning, I am eager to deepen my understanding of computational design, alongside sustainable materials and production methods. I believe these advancements can transform the way we create, fostering more responsible production and consumption for a healthier planet.
At my core, I’m a problem-solver and systems thinker. Whether designing buildings, sneakers, or workflows, I approach every project with curiosity, precision, and a desire to make ideas real. I believe that great design is about more than aesthetics—it’s about function, materiality, and the stories objects tell.
I’m excited to bring my multidisciplinary experience, technical expertise, and creative vision to a team that values innovation and cross-disciplinary design. Let’s build the future together.
